Peregrine Capital wins award for best performance by a single manager over 10 years

Peregrine Capital Award Winners From Left to Right: Alan Yates, David Fraser and Dudley Lamont Smith from Peregrine Capital

Peregrine Capital was announced as the winner for best performance by a single manager over 10 years – for their Peregrine Capital High Growth H4 QI Hedge Fund (annualised net return 18.08%, Sharpe 1.59) at the annual HedgeNews Africa Awards held on February 20, 2020 in Cape Town.

Now in their 11th year, these prestigious Awards recognise the best risk-adjusted returns of funds across 13 different categories. The winners are selected based on monthly data submitted to the HedgeNews Africa database, which includes South African hedge funds as well as other pioneering strategies applied across the broader African markets.

The results are also based on an established methodology and independently verified data submitted to HedgeNews Africa, the region’s leading independent publisher focused on the hedge fund and alternative asset management industries.

“As a hedge fund manager whose sole focus is to deliver superior, consistent risk adjusted returns for long term investors, this award is confirmation of our funds continued ability to deliver on our promise to our investors” says David Fraser, Peregrine Capital’s Executive Chairman and Portfolio Manager.

“South African hedge funds have again shown their ability to generate strong risk-adjusted returns in varying market conditions, making them worthy of investor attention in an environment of heightened risks,” notes Gwyneth Roberts, the publisher of HedgeNews Africa.
